- Commune: Valparaíso,
- Region: V Region of Valparaíso
goals
To train scientists capable of understanding biological processes from a physical-mathematical approach, promoting the integration of interdisciplinary studies, covering from the molecular level to the mathematical modeling of biological systems. Our graduates are expected to be leaders in the discipline, developing knowledge about the structure, function, and organization of the nervous system and its components.
Applicant Profile
Those who have a Bachelor's and / or Master's degree in disciplines such as Biology, Physics, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Engineering, Computing and Computer Science or related, may apply to the Program.
Graduate profile
The graduate of the Doctoral Program in Sciences with a major in Biophysics and Computational Biology will have the knowledge and the ability to contribute significantly in an active way (theoretical and experimental) to the development of the different areas that make up the discipline. You will be able to propose, design and implement experimental strategies to evaluate hypotheses. He will also be able to lead research groups of the highest level in one of two areas: mathematical modeling of biological phenomena related to Biophysics and Computational Biology, and the physical bases of the functioning, structure and interactions of biomacromolecules.
Lines of investigation
1. Biophysics of Macromolecules
2. Computational Biology:
- Molecular Modeling and Simulation
- Computational Neuroscience
