The Doctorate seeks to train Doctors with capacities to perform in autonomous research in the field of communication, and in the dissemination of knowledge of the area to academic audiences.
Applicant Profile
Be in possession of a Bachelor's or Master's degree (or Professional Title equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree), in the different disciplines linked to the program.
Graduate profile
The Doctor in Communication trained at the Universities of La Frontera and the Austral University of Chile is a postgraduate with skills to perform in (1) autonomous research in the field of communication, and (2) the dissemination of knowledge of the area to audiences academics. His training is from a critical perspective of the cultural industry and its mediations, through interdisciplinary approaches, theories and analysis to develop studies on communication processes.
His training enables him to (1.1.) Identify new problems in intercultural, known and emerging contexts, with different theoretical and methodological techniques; (1.2.) Develop research in the field of communication, with theoretical-methodological tools from an interdisciplinary perspective to contribute to the understanding of the problems associated with the different intercultural contexts; (2.1.) Prepare scientific articles for publication in journals indexed in the area, based on theoretical discussion, preliminary analysis of different corpus and results of own research, and (2.2.) Produce scientific texts for the presentation of research results to academic audiences. Has the ability to communicate effectively with different audiences and analyze problems from critical thinking. The postgraduate Doctor in Communication from the Universities of La Frontera and the Austral University of Chile may work in research centers and institutes, higher education institutions, public or private.
