goals
The Doctorate in Latin American Studies has as its fundamental objective the training of graduates of the highest academic level, who make an original contribution through the development, defense and approval of a thesis that constitutes an expansion of the interdisciplinary field, articulated around history and culture of Latin America from the disciplines of the Humanities. For this, a wide range of intellectual traditions is used, fostering an interdisciplinary, critical, dialogue and pluralistic approach.
Applicant Profile
Possess the academic degree of Master obtained in Chilean or foreign universities; or, at least, the Bachelor's degree or another equivalent to the Bachelor's degree conferred by the University of Chile.
Accredit the command of a foreign language, specifically referred to the competence of reading complex texts (English, French or German).
Graduate profile
Graduates will be able to:
1.- To propose and develop research projects in an autonomous and original way, that contribute to the strengthening of the field of studies on Latin America from the perspective of the humanities.
2.- Present and disseminate the results of their research in conferences of the specialty.
3.- Present and disseminate the results of their research through the publication of books and articles in mainstream magazines.
4.- Reflect and participate in debates around the most relevant problems within the field of studies, as well as contribute to interdisciplinary dialogue with other areas of the Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences.
5.- Carry out university academic activity of excellence in Latin American studies programs.
