• General objective
-To train researchers of excellence, trained to carry out and disseminate innovative research in linguistics and its interdisciplines, from a broad and deep conceptual framework and with a solid methodological domain.
Specific objectives
-To train researchers with solid theoretical and methodological knowledge in linguistics and its interdisciplines.
-To train researchers capable of applying their knowledge in the design and implementation of cutting-edge research in the field of linguistics and its interdisciplines, in accordance with high ethical standards.
-To train researchers capable of making the results of their research known through different means of scientific dissemination.
Applicant Profile
• Whoever joins this program must have a bachelor's or master's degree in linguistics or a related area. In addition, you must have fundamental knowledge about the sciences of language, which will allow you to deepen your training and train yourself to develop research in linguistics. Along with the above, they must be able to communicate effectively in Spanish both orally and in writing in the academic field, as well as to understand academic texts written in English. Likewise, each student in the Ph.D. program in Linguistics must be academically rigorous, capable of working autonomously, responsibly and in collaboration with others.
Graduate profile
The graduate of the PhD program in Linguistics will possess solid and specialized knowledge in linguistics. You will be able to develop and lead interdisciplinary research, from a broad and deep conceptual framework, with a solid methodological domain. Likewise, you will be able to present the results of your research successfully through different formats of scientific communication.
Lines of investigation
The program develops two research areas: Psycholinguistics and Discourse Studies. The first integrates three lines: the processing and understanding of discourse, the production of written discourse and the acquisition of language, which are developed from methodological perspectives that include both qualitative and experimental investigations, with cognitive-behavioral measurements or computational. The second integrates discourse analysis in academic, professional and media fields, which is developed from various methodological approaches, supported by tools and methods such as computational linguistics and corpus linguistics.
