goals
The objective of the Doctoral Program in Engineering Sciences, Industrial and Transport Engineering area, is to train researchers with a scientific-technological orientation, capable of conducting research in an original and independent way on the frontier of knowledge, and contribute to the development of complex systems in the field of industrial and transport engineering.
During the investigation, students must make new contributions to knowledge, training for their subsequent performance as researchers with creativity, leadership and originality. The ultimate basis for the award of a doctorate degree is the candidate's developed ability to master a broad field of study and his or her ability to do research independently.
Applicant Profile
Be in possession of the academic degree of bachelor and / or master's degree granted by Chilean universities.
In case of having foreign academic degrees, these must be equivalent to the previous ones
mentioned. Also have knowledge of the English language, sufficient to understand it in written form, which allows them to read articles, books and access international documents and databases in
effective way.
Graduate profile
The granting of the academic degree of Doctor of Engineering Sciences requires demonstrating mastery of the area of study and the ability to carry out research independently, making an original contribution to knowledge in the area of Industrial and Transportation Engineering.
During their doctoral training, students acquire skills to face scientific and technological problems in a creative and efficient way and that, due to their diverse nature, require complementing solid theoretical and conceptual bases, with the application of relevant analysis methodologies and techniques in some of the two lines of research of the Program.
Lines of investigation
Planning, management and optimization models of logistics and economic systems
It considers research and development on topics such as optimization models, large-scale systems simulation, financial engineering, and innovation.
Design, planning and regulation of complex systems
It seeks to understand and address numerous challenges associated with working with complex systems, such as the design of public transport networks, planning in complex logistics networks, the optimization of port operations, among others.
