• The PhD program in Psychology has as its main objective the training of researchers of excellence in Psychology: with high ethical standards, with a complete and updated understanding of various theoretical and methodological approaches, capable of generating and communicating scientific knowledge in a learning community in relation to other disciplines.

Applicant Profile

• Whoever joins this program must have a bachelor's or master's degree in a related area and possess the fundamental knowledge in Psychology, which will allow them to successfully face a theoretical and methodological deepening. You are also expected to be able to communicate effectively in Spanish both orally and in writing, as well as to understand academic texts written in English. Also, be academically rigorous, critical and capable of teamwork.

The Doctor of Psychology from the Pontificia Universidad de Católica de Valparaíso is a researcher capable of formulating and developing original research, adjusted to high methodological and ethical standards, which contributes to knowledge from Psychology, addressing social transformations in the fields of education, work and organizations, or health and community development.
The Doctor of Psychology from the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso is a researcher who:
• Formulates and develops original research;
• Contributes to knowledge on topics related to Psychology and social transformations in the fields of education; of work and organizations; or health and community development;
• Research with high methodological and ethical standards, and is able to actively participate in research communities; and
• Communicates the knowledge generated to the scientific community, through publications and presentations at conferences and seminars; as well as the community of interest, among others, local communities, public policy makers and civil society.

Lines of investigation

“La línea principal de investigación del Programa es el Análisis de los procesos psicológicos implicados en las transformaciones sociales de carácter institucional. A su vez, esta línea de investigación se subdivide en tres sublíneas:

1. PSYCHOLOGY AND SOCIAL TRANSFORMATIONS IN THE FIELD OF EDUCATION
It addresses national and local challenges in education, in the international context of educational reforms. Among the topics to be investigated are: the development of educational organizations, the identity processes of teachers and school communities, the learning and development of professionals who work in education, interpersonal and professional relationships within educational establishments and educational inclusion.

2. PSYCHOLOGY AND SOCIAL TRANSFORMATIONS IN THE FIELD OF WORK AND ORGANIZATIONS
Oriented to study such transformations of society in the field of work and organizations, in the light of the associated social and subjective processes. Among the topics investigated, the following stand out: new forms of work organization and administrative practices, labor identities, leadership and organizational learning, public management, incorporation of women into the world of work, collective organizations, and changes associated with the role of employees. workers in social programs.

3. PSYCHOLOGY AND SOCIAL TRANSFORMATIONS IN THE FIELD OF COMMUNITIES AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT
Estudia los procesos en el ámbito del desarrollo social. Entre las temáticas investigadas destacan: paz, justicia y conflicto, bienestar subjetivo y social, relaciones interculturales, inclusión social, diversidad, autodeterminación, desarrollo de organizaciones y movimientos de base y/o territoriales, liderazgo social, políticas públicas y sociales, salud y calidad de vida, y abordajes desde la perspectiva de derecho y la justicia social al desarrollo”.
