goals
Provide graduates in the discipline with advanced knowledge in philosophy, enable them to carry out original research independently and give them sufficient preparation to generate relevant contributions in the development of philosophy. Graduates of the Program are trained to research, publish, participate in specialty congresses, give outreach talks, and participate as evaluators in examining boards of research projects and doctoral theses.
Applicant Profile
Must have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Philosophy. Degrees in other disciplines will be accepted, provided they are equivalent to those of a Bachelor or Master in this discipline. In addition, to have some research work in philosophy (monograph, article, etc.) and to credit reading comprehension of the English language and command of modern and / or classical languages pertinent to the pre-project;
Graduate profile
Graduates of the Program will have all the conceptual and methodological tools necessary to develop productively in the field of philosophy. They will be able to plan, develop and conduct research aimed at producing meaningful knowledge for the development of their area of reflection. In addition, they will be able to contribute in a relevant way to the academic development of philosophy.
Lines of investigation
Classical Philosophy
In this line, the philosophy developed from its beginnings in Greece to the 5th century AD is investigated, both historically and systematically. C. (San Agustín), with a special emphasis on the study of Aristotle and his medieval reception. In addition, work in the field of ancient logic, ethics and rhetoric stands out.
Contemporary Philosophy
This line includes studies of the philosophies after the second half of the 19th century and up to the present day. A field of special relevance is Phenomenology (Husserl, Heidegger) and its later variations (Gadamer, Ricoeur, Jonas, Derrida, etc.). In addition, there is an emphasis on practical philosophy and analytical philosophy.
