Applicant Profile
The applicant for the program must be a graduate, graduate or master in the areas of biology, chemistry, engineering, biotechnology, biochemistry, environmental sciences, earth sciences or agronomic sciences, with theoretical and applied knowledge, with the capacity for abstraction and critical reflection, which will allow you to act creatively when faced with questions or problems in the field of biodiversity and bio-resources.
Graduate profile
The Doctor of Science with a mention in Biodiversity and Bio-resources is a researcher capable of developing basic and applied research, leading projects and generating publications, aimed at contributing to the understanding, protection and / or sustainable use of biodiversity, with an emphasis on coastal environments, and its interfaces, with an integrating perspective, and based on institutional ethical principles that consider respect for the human person and nature.
Lines of investigation
Biodiversity: it is oriented to the study and understanding of biodiversity and its components, the natural and anthropic factors that affect them, and the benefits they provide to society. Its study is approached considering all organizational levels from genetic to ecosystem. This line includes the areas of genetics, evolution, ecology and the environment.
Bio-resources: it is oriented to the study and development of transformations or chemical and biological processes that generate added value in biological or biogenic resources and that favor their sustainable use. This line includes the areas of bioremediation, management and conservation of biological resources, and identification and characterization of bioproducts.
