Promote the formation of advanced human capital to study and understand the functioning of marine and estuarine environments using the physiological, ecological and oceanographic approaches that they will have to learn during their stay in the program. Thus, it is expected to consolidate a pole of scientific development in the region.
To train creative and intellectually independent scientists who are capable of detecting and testing hypotheses associated with marine and estuarine environments at the ecosystem, community, population and individual levels.
Substantially improve the country's competitiveness through an increase in high-standard scientific productivity, such as scientific articles and research projects, which account for a greater impact of the knowledge of our ecosystems and marine resources at an international level.
Applicant Profile
The general criteria for admission to Doctoral Programs are governed by the General Regulations for Doctoral Programs of the Austral University of Chile, which establishes as a general requirement to be in possession of an academic degree in accordance with the provisions of current legislation. To apply for the Program, it is required:
Academic degree of Bachelor or Master in a discipline related to Marine Sciences or related to biology.
Curriculum vitae indicating relevant information such as undergraduate qualifications, academic activities developed, scientific publications and presentations at conferences.
Personal letter of intent supporting the application.
Two letters of recommendation from national / international scientists with contact addresses.

Graduate profile
He will demonstrate a solid and up-to-date knowledge in ecophysiology, ecology, oceanography and genetics with a strong transversality that will allow him to carry out frontier research on marine science topics and integrate without difficulty into multidisciplinary teams.
They will be able to analyze and solve scientific problems in marine biology through the use of up-to-date and suitable methodological tools and evaluate their potential impact at the local, regional and global levels.
You will achieve the capabilities to manage, execute, and communicate high-level scientific research.
