Activity will take place on May 9 and 10 at the Federico Santa María Technical University (UTFSM) and will bring together the highest university authorities of the Ibero-American region, higher education networks and other academic and political personalities of our country.
The Annual Meeting of the Ibero-American University Council (CUIB) 2018 to be held in Region V is organized by the Ibero-American General Secretariat (SEGIB) and has the support of the Council of Rectors of Chilean Universities (CRUCH); from the University of Valparaíso (UV) and from the Federico Santa María Technical University (UTFSM).
It seeks to be an instance of meeting, proactive analysis in matters of higher education, with a view to reaching agreements and proposals for what will be the XXVI Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government, which will be held on November 15 and 16. 2018, in La Antigua, Guatemala.
The Ibero-American University Council (CUIB) was established in 2002 and is made up of representatives of the university associations of the countries of the Ibero-American region.
The CUIB plenary meeting will be attended by the highest authorities of the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE); the Council of Rectors of Portuguese Universities (CRUP); the National Interuniversity Council of Argentina (CIN); the Ministry of Higher Education of Cuba (MES): the National Association of Universities and Institutions of Higher Education of Mexico (ANUIES); the Colombian Association of Universities (ASCUN); the Association of Universities of Peru (ASUP); the Dominican Association of University Rectors (ADRU); the Central American Higher University Council (CSUCA); the Association of Universities of the Montevideo Group (AUGM); the Union of Universities of Latin America and the Caribbean (UDUAL); the National Council of Higher Education of Paraguay (CONES) and the National Council of Universities of Nicaragua (CNU), among other important Ibero-American university networks, political and university authorities in the country.
Among the topics that will be the subject of analysis in this Annual Assembly are the role of the University in the 2030 Agenda; the bases for an agenda of university cooperation in Science, Technology and Innovation; progress in the development of the agreements adopted by the XXV Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government, as well as the definition of strategic objectives for the Biennial Action Plan 2018-2019 of the CELAC-EU University Council, among other topics.
El acto de apertura de la XVI Asamblea CUIB se celebrará el día miércoles 09 de mayo a las 15:30 horas en el Salón Principal la Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María, ubicada en Av. España 1680, Valparaíso (1° piso, Edificio A). Este acto contará con la participación de Aldo Valle, Vicepresidente Ejecutivo del CRUCH y rector de la Universidad de Valparaíso y de Darcy Fuenzalida, rector de la Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María (UTFSM).
