The Minister of Education confirmed it by telephone earlier today.
The Executive Vice President of the Council of Rectors and rector of the University of Valparaíso, Aldo Valle, reported that the Minister of Education, Adriana Delpiano, confirmed by telephone early this morning that the Government accepted the request made on behalf of CRUCH in order to guarantee that the basal contribution for performance is incorporated in the Higher Education Law on a permanent basis without depending on the budget of each year, for which the respective indication will be presented today.
"It is good news because it guarantees a condition of sustainability for the development of the non-state universities of the Council of Rectors, which have historically contributed to the public function in higher education, research and development of the country's culture," said Valle.
The academic authority expressed its satisfaction with this result, since this has been requested throughout the processing of the bill.
"We raised it before the House Education Commission, then before the Senate Education Commission and the last steps were made directly before the Ministry of Education, a government body that has always shown a willingness to accept this proposal."
Rector Valle will attend the Senate today at 12 noon and will be available to the media wishing to make inquiries on this matter.
